Dan Grider Sr. Scholarship
Dan Grider Sr., 1996 SDGA Senior Champion, and long-time friend and mentor to members and friends of the Boys of Summer has graciously awarded a $500 scholarship to one competitor to encourage participation in the Boys of Summer Cup. Recipient of the scholarship is determined by drawing upon completion of the first 18 holes of play. To be eligible for the scholarship, participants must be enrolled full-time at an accredited university or college. Mr. Grider gives out the inaugural Dan Grider Sr. Scholarship.
2022 Recipient: Jack Kray used his scholarship towards his degree in aerospace engineering at the University of Kansas.
2021 Recipient: Jack Kray used his scholarship towards his degree at the University of Kansas.
2020 Recipient: Hunter Von Bergen used his scholarship towards his degree at the Augustana University where he plays on the golf team.
2019 Recipient: Ryan Neff used his scholarship towards his degree at St. Cloud University where he also played on the golf team.
2018 Recipient: Bronson Vasa used his scholarship towards his degree at University of Sioux Falls where he played on the golf team.
2017 Recipient: Steve Johnson used his scholarship towards his studies at University of South Dakota.
2016 Recipient: Ben Prisbe used his scholarship to study sports management at the University of Sioux Falls where he also competed on the golf team.
2015 Recipient: Dayton Schumacher used his scholarship to study at the University of Nebraska.
2014 Recipient: Ben Prisbe used his scholarship at the University of Sioux Falls where he also played on the golf team.

2012 Recipient: Cory Willadsen used his scholarship towards his undergraduate degree at South Dakota State University, where he is studying engineering.
2011 Recipient: Brian Wynia used his scholarship towards his undergraduate degree at South Dakota State University. Brian is a member of SDSU’s golf team.
2010 Recipient: Justin Johnson used his scholarship towards his undergraduate degree at the University of South Dakota.
2009 Recipient: Matt Pridey used his scholarship towards his Sports Management degree at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. Matt also plays on the golf team at GCU.
2009 Recipient: Justin Johnson used his scholarship towards a biology/pre-med degree at the University of South Dakota.
2008 Recipient: Pat Menke is attending Creighton in Omaha, Nebraska. He used his scholarship towards his accelerated nursing program.
2007 Recipient: Chris Mithelman used his scholarship toward his undergraduate degree from Augustana College where he is also a member of the men’s golf team.
2006 Recipient: Brett C. Bennett used his scholarship toward his undergraduate degree from the University of South Dakota where he is also a member of the men’s varsity golf team.
2005 Recipient: Neil Carmody used his scholarship toward his undergraduate studies of civil engineering at the University of Lincoln Nebraska
2004 Recipient: Jake Murray used his scholarship towards his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas Pan-America.
